The ABC-3's of Contracting ... Glover style
Jas. W. Glover, Ltd., a locally owned and operated general contracting company with license number ABC-3, has proudly served Hawai'i's construction industry since 1935. The company maintains operations on Oahu, Hawai'i and Kaua'i.

On the island of Hawai'i, the company quarries basaltic rock and manufactures ready mix concrete, asphaltic concrete, hollow tile block, and precast concrete products.

On the island of Kaua'i, the company mines and produces graded aggregates and limestone sand from two quarries.

On the island of Oahu, the company performs work as a prime and subcontractor for the military, public and private sectors.


Our History
The company was founded in Honolulu by James Wilson Glover, a well-known entrepreneur and businessman who also served in the Territorial House of Representatives. In 1939, Mr. Glover hired Herbert Van Orden as General Manager to run the company for him.

The company prospered during the war years and the years thereafter, completing such notable projects as the National Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl,the Halawa Water Tunnel, Hana Wharf, and various improvements to the military bases on the island of Oahu.


Incorporation and Growth
On April 1, 1946, the company was incorporated and branched out to the island of Hawai'i where there was an abundance of highway and infrastructure work.

The company continued to flourish on both islands, completing work on the H-1 Freeway, Pali Highway, segments of the Hawai'i Belt Road , various bridges and improvements along the Hamakua Coast,Kawaihae Harbor, the Nu'uanu Reservoir, Ala Wai Boat Harbor, runways and taxiways at Hilo Airport and Keaau Bypass Highways Phases I and II.

The contracting portion of the company has expanded into building construction. Projects have included the Kea'au Elementary School, additions to Mountain View Elementary School and Pahoa High School, Kaiser Hospital's Hilo Clinic, Lighting, Signs and ARFF Improvements to the Hilo International Airport, and service buildings and well improvements at Keonepoko, Hawi, Kaloko, Pi'ihonua, Kuou and Aiea Gulch wells.


The Spirit of Ohana
Much of the current work force at the company is comprised of second and third generation family members and relatives of previous employees and retirees. All are proudly striving to continue the legacy of those that came before us.
